A resolute defence minister on Friday assured the Lok Sabha that the government will expose the big people behind corruption in the AgustaWestland deal.
Parrikar said he was personally supervising the ongoing probe in AgustaWestland VVIP Helicopter deal and would see that it reached its logical conclusion.
He said the ongoing probe in AgustaWestland deal will not end up like Bofors deal.
Speaking in a calling attention motion on the recent disclosures by Italian Court of Appeals, Milan in alleged irregularities in Agusta Westland Helicopter deal, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar said that the investigation will focus on those whose names have been referred to in the court judgement.
He also elaborated the government’s view about how the parameters were changed during the previous UPA regime to favour a particular company.
However, Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia, put a strong defence for party leadership. He described the party chief Sonia Gandhi as ‘lioness’ and said the government’s attempt to target her will backfire.
Congress members also demanded a Supreme Court monitored probe in the case.
However, defence minister turned down the proposal saying that the top court was already overburdened.
During the reply of the Defence Minister, the Congress members, including party chief Sonia Gandhi and Vice President Rahul Gandhi walked out of the house in protest.
