Results are seen as a big set back for BJP as the party was reduced to just 03 seats in its traditional strong hold. BJP had 7 seats of the total 13 seats.
The result is also seen as some sort of reality check for the ruling Aam Admi Party as the party chief and Delhi Chief Minister Kajriwal had claimed that the party would sweep all 17 seats.
The poll is a good news for Congress as the party is able to win 4 seats, 1 more than BJP. The party had failed to win a single seat in the assembly elections.
BJP has won the Shalimar Bagh, Nawada and Wazirpur wards while the Congress has registered victory in Jhilmil, Khicharipur, Qamruddin Nagar and Munirka wards.
Opening its account in the MCD polls, AAP has won the Tehkhand, Matiala, Ballimaran, Nanakpura and Vikaspuri wards. Bhati Mines seat has gone to the independent candidate.
45.9 per cent of the 6,68,870 eligible voters exercised their franchise in the bypolls held on Sunday. The bypolls were necessitated due to their sitting councillors getting elected to Delhi assembly in 2013 and 2015.
