Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar today said that he would place all facts about the controversial AgustaWestland deal before the Parliament on May 4. The minister would also give the chronology of the events.
Milan Appellate Court in Italy has sentenced seniour company official for giving bribery to secure the deal to sell helicopters for Indian VVIPs during the UPA tenure.
Speaking to local media in his home state Goa, Parrikar said people who got money in the deal are not likely to leave behind the proofs that could be used to prosecute them.
He, however, said the government would make every effort to expose the scam.
The deal has triggered intense controversy in India after conviction of Finmeccanica officials for giving bribes to Indian authorities to secure the deal.
The Defence Minister said, he would not share the details with media and would place facts in Parliament on Wednesday.
Mr Parrikar also challenged the Congress to show that the Italian company was blacklisted during its tenure. He said it was during the NDA government that the firm was banned.
The deal for the VVIP choppers went off track in 2013 when Italy arrested the head of Finmeccanica, which owns AgustaWestland, for paying bribes to secure the deal.
An Italian court, which convicted AgustaWestland chief Giuseppe Orsi, had reportedly described how the firm paid bribes to top Congress leaders to bag the 3,600 crore rupees deal.
