A grateful nation today paid tributes to Bharat Ratna Dr. Bheem Rao Ambedkar on his 125th birth anniversary.
Dr. Ambedkar was remembered for his role in upliftment of oppressed classes and most notably for spearheading the drafting process of Indian constitution.
President Pranab Mukherjee and Vice President Mohammad Hamid Ansari offered tributes at the statue of Dr Ambedkar at the Parliament House in New Delhi.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid rich tribute to the architect of Indian constitution. In a tweet, Prime Minister said, Dr Ambedkar is a Vishwa Manav, who devoted his life in service of the poor and marginalised.
Prime Minister said Dr. Ambedkar believed in the power of education and his economic vision was unique, with a strong emphasis on welfare of the farmer as well as the worker.
On this occssion, Prime Minister launched an ambitious program to transform India’s village from the birth place of Dr. Ambedkar in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh.
The program – Gram Uday Se Bharat Uday is aimed at transforming rural India.
