Central Bureau of Investigation, CBI has arrested Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal’s Principal Secretary Rajinder Kumar and four others.
Speaking to media in New Delhi this evening, CBI Information Officer in CBI R K Gaur said, they have been arrested on charges of corruption and abuse of power. He said, the accused will be produced before a court tomorrow.
According to CBI sources, Rajendra Kumar is allegedly involved in Rs 50 crore scam. He is also accused of flouting tendering norms to favour a particular company.
Last year the investigative agency had carried out searches at his office in Delhi Secretariat and had recovered incriminating documents.
The searches had generated controversy with AAP Government leveling charges against the Centre for destabilizing the city Government.
Reacting to the arrests, Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia alleged that the action has been taken to paralyse the Chief Minister’s Office. Meanwhile, Delhi BJP President Satish Upadhyay asked Mr Kejriwal to answer the people about the corruption charges against his Principal Secretary.
