Women and child development minister Maneka Gandhi Tuesday released the national policy for women.
This is the first time since 2001 when a draft policy for women has been released.
The policy will address issues related to widows and universal health benefits for all women apart from dealing with issues of single women will act as a road map over the next 15-20 years for dealing with women’s issues.
It will cover the issues such as discrimination against women to the expectations of the new emerging aspirational woman.
The policy has been placed in public domain for consultation with all stakeholders including NGOs and civil societies among others.
