The video of the surgical strikes on terrorists in Pakistani territory have been submitted to the government, Union Minister of State for Home Hansraj Ahir said on Wednesday.
“Yes, the videos have been submitted. There is a process, earlier documents were given. Now there are clips. So those have been handed over (by the army),” Ahir was quoted as saying in local media reports.
However, the minister did not elaborate which department or ministry of the government has received the strike video from the army.
His remarks followed demands by some political parties that the government should release evidence of the surgical strikes across the Line of Control (LoC) to counter Pakistan’s claims that the operation never took place.
Authenticity of the last month’s surgical strike has become bone of contention as opposition has demanded the government to release the video proof of the strike.
It’s unprecedented in recent history as this was the first operation across line of control admitted by Indian government, which led to chain reaction of acknowledgements by Congress party that claimed that three such covert operations were conducted when UPA was in power.
