The government Sunday launched the second phase of Pradhanmantri Ujjwala Yojana from tribal dominated Dahod district of Gujarat. The scheme is intended to provide domestic gas connections to 5 crore (50 million) poor households in next three years.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched the scheme from Balliya of Uttar Pradesh on May 1st to provide LPG connections to 5 crore women beneficiaries from BPL families.
Petroleum and Natural Gas Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Chief Ministers of three BJP ruled states Gujarat, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh jointly launched the second phase of Pradhanmantri Ujjwala Yojana in Gujarat’s Dahod district.
BJP chief Amit Shah was also present on the occassion.
The first phase of Ujjwala Yojna was launched by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Ballia in Uttar Pradesh on May 1.
Speaking on the occassion, Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said that 25 Lakh gas connections in rural areas and 15 lakh connections in urban areas will be provided in Gujarat alone.
