Reserve Bank of India will shortly issue banknotes of 1000 rupees denominations with inset letter ‘R’ in both the number panels.
In a release, RBI said that the banknotes will also have on the obverse, all the other security features, including ascending size of numerals, bleed lines and enlarged identification mark.
The bank said that the new notes would bear the signature of its present governor Raghuram Rajan.
It also clarified that the banknotes of 1,000 rupees of previous series would continue to be legal tender.
