Pakistan Friday postponed SAARC Summit to save face after 5 out 8 participating nations pulled out of the summit.
Declining to attend the Islamabad Summit, Sri Lanka said it condemned terrorism in all its forms and stressed on the need to deal with terrorism in the region in a decisive manner.
In a face saving exercise, it has announced the postponement of the 19th SAARC Summit which was to have been held in Islamabad in November.
However, Pakistan blamed India for derailing the summit saying that it violated the Saarc charter.
Russia too has extended its support to India. It has slammed Pakistan for aggravation of the situation along the line of control between India and Pakistan.
Russia called on India and Pakistan not to allow any escalation of tension and to settle the existing problems by political and diplomatic means through negotiations. Russia called for a decisive struggle against terrorism in all its manifestations.
Naming Pakistan, it categorically said it expects the country to take effective steps to stop the activities of terrorist groups acting from within the territory of the country.
China too expressed concern on the tension along the LoC. It called for both sides to exercise restraint and avoid further escalating tensions.
China also called for both sides to settle disputes through dialogue and consultation. It said it will continue with its efforts to promote peace talks in a proper way in light of the development on the ground.
